Welcome to the 17th Mississippi! We are a family-oriented, non-political Civil War reenacting group comprised of men, women, and children in the Chicagoland area who share a great interest in American history. Through battle reenactments and in-camp scenarios, we educate the public on what life was like for Confederate soldiers and civilians during the most difficult time in our nation’s history.

Though we do have day jobs and enjoy a shower like normal 21st-century people, we always look forward to spending a weekend with old friends in the ranks and meeting new people around the camp. Be sure to look for us at the following events. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned veteran or just a curious onlooker, we’ll save you a seat by our fire.
